A Galactic Event Beyond Anything Seen in Fortnite

It’s official — Fortnite is heading to a galaxy far, far away. Beginning May 2, 2025, Epic Games and Disney are launching what they’re calling the most expansive Star Wars collaboration in Fortnite history. But this isn’t just another seasonal crossover. It’s a full-fledged, Star Wars-themed Battle Royale season, an in-game exclusive Disney+ series premiere, and a giant leap into the future of digital entertainment where gaming and streaming collide.

A Disney+ Premiere… Inside Fortnite

The centrepiece of this mega-collab is the debut of Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, a brand-new animated series premiering inside Fortnite before it even hits Disney+. On May 2 at 10 a.m. ET, players can gather on the new Star Wars Watch Party island to watch the first two episodes in a cinematic in-game setting. It marks a groundbreaking moment — the first time a Disney+ show premieres inside a video game, merging streaming content with Fortnite’s immersive world.

Enter the Galactic Battle Season

Alongside the premiere, Epic is rolling out a brand-new Battle Royale season titled Fortnite: GALACTIC BATTLE. It transforms Fortnite into a full-blown Star Wars universe with weekly content updates, new characters, vehicles, gameplay mechanics, and lore. Players can step into the role of Darth Jar Jar, Emperor Palpatine, and more, while piloting X-wings, TIE Fighters, and wielding lightsabers and blasters across a redesigned map.

And yes — Darth Jar Jar is finally a playable character. Let that sink in.

A Season Packed With Weekly Star Wars Content

The Galactic Battle season rolls out with new themes each week, building up excitement over the next month. It kicks off with “Imperial Takeover” on May 2, followed by “The Pull of the Force” on May 8, “Mandalorian Rising” on May 22, and “Star Destroyer Bombardment” on May 29. The grand finale? A massive in-game live event called “Death Star Sabotage” set for June 7, promising a climactic showdown in Fortnite’s ever-evolving galaxy.

Skins, Quests, and a Fully Transformed Map

Fortnite’s Battle Pass is overflowing with new Star Wars content. Players will unlock characters like Poe Dameron, General Grievous, and Emperor Palpatine, along with playful mashups such as Wookiee Cuddle Team Leader and Jedi Evie. Meanwhile, the Fortnite island has undergone a major transformation, introducing immersive new zones including a First Order base, Resistance HQ, and a desert area inspired by Mos Eisley — complete with cantinas and iconic architecture.

The Watch Party Island: Where Streaming Meets Storytelling

Built using Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), the Watch Party island isn’t just a static movie screen. It’s a fully interactive world built with official Star Wars assets, allowing players to watch Tales of the Underworld and battle waves of incoming Stormtroopers with lightsabers and blasters. It’s part theater, part battleground — and all Star Wars.

Inside the Galaxy’s Darkest Corners: Tales of the Underworld

Tales of the Underworld, from longtime Star Wars visionary Dave Filoni, explores the grittier corners of the galaxy. It follows Asajj Ventress, the former assassin and bounty hunter, as she’s forced to go on the run with an unlikely ally. At the same time, outlaw Cad Bane is pulled into a personal mission when he confronts a former friend turned Marshal. With its dark tone, dramatic stakes, and focus on Star Wars’ criminal underworld, the series is a natural fit for a dynamic premiere inside Fortnite.

The series also boasts a stacked voice cast including Nika Futterman, Corey Burton, and AJ LoCascio, and is executive produced by Dave Filoni, Athena Yvette Portillo, and Carrie Beck.

A New Frontier for Digital Entertainment

Sean Shoptaw, EVP of Disney Games & Digital Entertainment, said it best:
“For the first time, Disney+ is premiering a show inside a game, launching alongside our largest Star Wars collaboration with Fortnite to date — giving fans and players an exciting first look at the kinds of experiences they can expect as we shape a new future together.”

Adam Sussman, President of Epic Games, added:
“Disney and Epic are pioneering the future of social entertainment together. We are reimagining what’s possible with immersive storytelling in Fortnite with one of the world’s most beloved franchises.”

More Than a Crossover — A Galactic Evolution

With a first-of-its-kind Disney+ in-game premiere, cross-platform account linking, a Star Wars-themed season, and a map full of Easter eggs and secrets, this is far more than a marketing crossover. It’s a bold, imaginative leap into what’s next for entertainment.

So mark your calendars. Link your accounts. Get your lightsabers ready.
Fortnite: GALACTIC BATTLE begins May 2 — and this galaxy-spanning adventure is just getting started.
